In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous. – Aristotle
After a beautiful drive to Cedar Mesa, Utah, we begin this trek at the Kane Gulch Ranger Station. Piñon-juniper forest upon a fragrant sagebrush understory surrounds you before dropping into the canyon of Kane Gulch. As we leave the mesa top and make our way into Grand Gulch, the canyon gradually becomes deeper. Along the way you’ll see such notable cultural and natural features as Turkey Pen Ruin and Stimper Arch. Each day will be spent traveling past tokens of an antique civilization in this remote foot-accessed wilderness setting. A unique split-level ruin will be a sight to behold, and as you explore the numerous cliff dwellings, rock art, and Ancestral Puebloan ruins adorning the land, you will pass Coyote Canyon and Sheik’s Canyon. This trek will exit Grand Gulch out of Bullet Canyon where the famous Jailhouse Ruin and Perfect Kiva Ruin reside. At the Bullet Canyon trailhead your transportation will be waiting to return you to Durango.
